About

Lönesnurra is a net-pay calculator for Sweden, aimed at anyone working in Sweden. The content is still being added.

What Lönesnurra is

Lönesnurra is a free salary-after-tax calculator for Sweden, for anyone working here who wants to understand what happens between gross pay and the amount that actually lands in the account. The aim is a clear, honest breakdown for income year 2026: municipal tax, any state tax, the basic deduction and the earned-income credit — each shown on its own, with no registration and no hidden costs, in Swedish and English.

Where the figures come from

Every number in the calculation traces back to a primary authority. Tax rates, the state threshold, the deduction and credit curves and the fees come from Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) and the Ministry of Finance (Finansdepartementet); the per-municipality rates and the context statistics on average and median pay come from SCB (Statistics Sweden). Nothing is invented: a figure is either quoted from one of these sources or derived from them, and where a value is only an estimate it is labelled as one.

How the calculation works

The method is deliberately transparent. It takes your annual gross pay, applies the basic deduction to reach taxable income, charges municipal tax and — above the threshold — state tax, subtracts the earned-income credit from the municipal tax, adds the mandatory burial fee and any optional church fee, and divides the result over twelve months. The general pension contribution is shown but, because it is fully credited back, is not subtracted from net pay. The individual topics are explained on the tax, deductions and collective-agreement pages.

What this is not

The calculator gives an indicative result, not an official figure — results can differ from your actual payslip, in part because this version deliberately does not account for every situation. The calculator is general information and a first estimate, not tax, legal or financial advice, and it is no substitute for a calculation from your employer or Skatteverket. For decisions that matter, the official information always takes precedence over anything shown here. Questions or corrections are welcome via the contact page.
